Dream Big by CN Bring

Weaving a story around a strong woman in a mystery/suspense novel isn’t easy.  I love building a story around a strong woman to remind fellow women and myself how strong we all can be. Unraveling a mystery is like raising the blind and shining light into darkness. While trekking through clues to the other side, our discovery breeds inspiration. As we journey with our hero, we grow with them.

I created Celia Kelly to be a military hero because I believe that women in uniform have yet to be recognized with the power and poise they possess. I made her a woman of faith because all of us are motivated by where we come from, how we are raised and what we believe. With her husband Missing In Action, she is in a romantic holding pattern as she tries to figure out what that means for her. It is empowering to see a good person in crisis who becomes responsible for resolving an even greater crisis. Most of us can relate to the idea of putting our own feelings and issues aside for family, state and what we believe to be the greater good.

In addition to creating characters in crisis, I believe I have an additional responsibility as an author.  Most believe that all forms of media (TV, books, movies, etc.) reflect society, but I believe they have the power to influence it. It’s a responsibility I take seriously. It’s my goal as an author to share a powerful story that connects with my audience in a positive way.

Above all else, when I sit down to write, I hope to pen words of inspiration. It is important for my audience and all people to understand the significance of their lives. No matter what job or walk of life, we all have the power to make a difference in the world. Hopefully, when the reader completes the final sentence, they feel a sense of empowerment in their own life.

Publishers and the writing industry constantly tell authors to "dream big". I believe our job is to inspire readers to dream big!
